Jamie Redknapp issues verdict on Ben Davies display for Tottenham
Jamie Redknapp that Ben Davies was arguably the man of the match as Tottenham Hotspur beat West Ham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
Spurs have set up a semi-final where they will face Chelsea after a 2-1 victory over the Hammers. Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura scored either side of a Jarrod Bowen goal for the visitors.

Conte selected a strong side for the tie. And with that, Davies kept his place on the left of the back three. The Welshman has been something of a revelation in that role since the Italian was appointed.
And he was impressive once again against the Hammers. He made 43 accurate passes and made two interceptions, . Meanwhile, his tallies of five aerial duel wins and four clearances were not bettered by anyone on either side.

Following the game, and the semi-final draw, Redknapp was involved in a discussion about whether Conte may look to spend to improve the squad in January. And he suggested that the new Tottenham boss may still be looking for those players who come from nowhere – with the 28-year-old being the example he pointed to.
: “Players surprise you. He maybe looked at Ben Davies before he came, would anyone have guessed that he would pretty much play all his games?
“He’s been fantastic. Today, arguably man of the match. He knows the game, he knows the position. Back three, might just suit him.”
Ben Davies proving point after playing small role for Tottenham under Nuno Espirito Santo
It is remarkable to see the transformation Davies appears to have enjoyed under Conte. While Nuno Espírito Santo was at the helm, the former Swansea man struggled for chances. He featured in one of their opening nine Premier League games this season.
Obviously, Conte is using a different system. But he still deserves huge credit for seeing the potential Davies had to make that left-sided centre-back role his own.
