Jamie Redknapp feels Wolves have a ‘challenge’ keeping key man this summer
Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp has been sharing his thoughts on the 2018-19 season . The Sky Sports pundit had particular praise for Wolves. He admitted he was surprised by the club’s excellent season since promotion from the Championship. He reserved special compliments for one player in particular.
“Ruben Neves is one of the most exciting midfielders in the Premier League.
“He reminds me of Xabi Alonso and Wolves face a challenge to keep hold of him.”
Comparisons to a player of Alonso’s ilk cannot be undervalued. Neves has certainly put in performances the former Spanish international will appreciate.
Redknapp is also not wrong when he states that Wolves have a fight on to keep a hold of the Portuguese international.
He has been linked with a number of clubs in recent months. In fact, Alonso’s former club Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for the player.
Of course, Wolves know the talent that Neves possesses. Last summerthat Wolves had slapped a £110 million price-tag on the player to put potential suitors off.
That fee seems inflated and Wolves will struggle to reject any deal approaching that figure.
Hopefully, Wolves can keep hold of the player as he has helped them become one of the most entertaining teams in England.
