Jamie Redknapp and Danny Murphy believe Everton should stick with Duncan Ferguson
Former Liverpool midfielders Jamie Redknapp and Danny Murphy have endorsed Duncan Ferguson to manage Everton until the end of the season.
Ferguson, 47, is in temporary charge following the sacking of Marco Silva and earned a 3-1 victory over Chelsea on Saturday, which impressed the former Reds.
In the Redknapp : “His desire to win was always incredible. When I saw him looking proud as punch, I thought: ‘He wants this job full-time.’ Why not? Why not give it to Ferguson until the end of the season? He loves Everton more than anybody. He’s one of their own, as blue as they come. He taps into what Evertonians want.”
Murphy told : “What we saw at the weekend was a great balance. It was really clever from Duncan. That performance was committed and full of quality. I think Duncan should be left in charge. There’s going to be better quality coaches available in the summer.”

TBR’s View – Everton need a proper manager
Everton’s weekend win was fantastic but it was absolutely trademark ‘new manager bounce’ stuff. A popular coach swaps his tracksuit for a suit, shows passion for the club and simplifies his tactics.
It stuns the opposition because they can’t prepare for it. But a 4-4-2 with Gylfi Sigurdsson in central midfield is not going to take Everton where they want to be at the end of the season.
Calls for Ferguson to get the job on anything longer than a game-to-game basis are incredibly reactionary.
