Jamie Redknapp amazed by display of Tottenham player he has strongly criticised
Jamie Redknapp has issued his verdict on the performance of Cristian Romero after Tottenham Hotspur drew 2-2 with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Cristian Romero handed🐽 𝓀Spurs a big boost ahead of their clash with Erik ten Hag’s side. The Argentinian had been sidelined since before Christmas.
But he made his return against Manchester United, with Micky van de Ven also coming back into the side. The pair were absolutely superb in the opening weeks of the campaign as Ange Postecoglou’s side se🅠t the pace in the Pಌremier League.
Jamie Redknapp praises Cristian Romero after Tottenham draw
It was a tough first-half for Tottenham. They went into the break 2-1 down. And Romero did no﷽t cover himself in glory for failing to cᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚlose Rasmus Hojlund down for the opening goal.

But Tottenham were the much better side in the second-half. And speaking on (broadcast on 14/1; 18:30), Jamie Redknapp suggested that the 25-year-old really proved him wrong with his performance after the 💛break.
“I’ve been critical about Romero very often. I thought second-half, he was fabulous. Good decisions,🤪 defensively sound. If he takes away that ill disciple, he’s a top defender,” he said.
Spurs receive huge boost with both centre-backs now back
Tottenham fans will hope that they now get the Romero who was so impressive at the start of the season. Of course, it has been a turbulent time for the 🌠centre-back since his move.
Romero was absolutely outstanding in his first campaign. But his form – like several others – dipped dramatically last season. And it probably did not help that he💙 played his part as Argentina won the World Cup.
But alongside van de Ven, Romero has looked to be back to his best this season. He has made mistakes, getting sent off against Chelsea in November. Romero also made a wౠild challenge against Newcast꧃le. Howe🎃ver, there is no question that he has enormous potential.
It ♛will be interesting to see if Romero and van de Ven can find that form together again. Sunday’s second-𒆙half suggested that they definitely can.
