Jamie O’Hara tells Rangers Frank Lampard could do a better job at Ibrox than Steven Gerrard, if appointed

that Frank Lampard could do a better job at Rangers than Steven Gerrard – because of his Chelsea and Derby past.

Gerrard, 41, joined Aston Villa last week – penning a contract at the Midlands club until 2025. Rangers are yet to appoint a replacement at Ibrox.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst looks set to replace him in the dugout – though plenty of others have been linked. Frank Lampard is said to be a contender.

Lampard is not the only contender. Sky’s Dharmesh Sheth reported on Monday three managers had been interviewed – including van Bronckhorst.

Speaking about a potential move north of the border for Lampard, O’Hara thinks he could end up doing a better job than Gerrard.

“It’s not a risk for Lampard to take the Rangers job, Gerrard has left them in a good state,” “Lampard has managed Chelsea.

“Gerrard got that job with no experience. Lampard should back himself to match Gerrard, if not better because he’s managed Chelsea and Derby.

“Lampard goes in there with huge potential, it is a big appointment for Rangers if they go for him,” O’Hara continued, on Monday morning.

O’Hara on Lampard: Could he improve on Gerrard job at Rangers?

The difference is, is that Gerrard joined Rangers when they were struggling to finish even in second behind Celtic – let alone, above the Hoops.

He was given money to spend, which has dried up in recent seasons in order to beat Celtic. They did just that, stopping 10 in a row for Celtic.

But Gerrard was only allowed to bring in a number of free transfers in the summer – John Lundstram, Fashion Sakala, Juninho Bacuna.

Lampard would have little cash to spend at Rangers. So, being able to improve on Gerrard’s job would be difficult – given Gerrard impressed.
