Jamie O’Hara says he’s already spotted a ‘problem’ with Brennan Johnson’s game at Tottenham

Jamie O’Hara has suggested that he has a bit of a problem with Brennan Johnson following his move to Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the summer transfer window.

Brennan Johnson has been bright over the last few weeks, setting up goals against both Manchester City and Everton.

However, the 22-year-old has, so far, only scored one goal in the top-flight. And that may be a concern for some given that he was the one attacking player brought in after Tottenham sold Harry Kane.

Jamie O’Hara wants Brennan Johnson to score more for Tottenham

Certainly, Jamie O’Hara believes that the Wales international needs to be doing more in the final third.

“Brennan Johnson I like but he’s a bit weak in front of goal, that’s the problem with him,” he told (broadcast on 28/12 from 6:00)

“I like him and what he does, he has pace and causes problems for other teams but he’s a bit weak in front of goal.

“I think he will get better but if you can have someone who can come off the bench if, say Son, Richarlison or Kulusevski are not doing it, you have someone you can go to off the bench and come on and really produce that’s what we need.”

Forward appears to be on the right path – despite lack of goals

In fairness, Johnson has not had much of a chance to play through the middle. And he has only been starting on a consistent basis in the last few games. So it is not entirely surprising that he has not yet been prolific.

Tottenham signed the 22-year-old as a potential star of the future. Ange Postecoglou has spoken about how happy he is with Johnson’s development. And it is encouraging that he has made an impact in the last few games.

The form of Richarlison also shows how quickly things can change. The Brazilian went into the game against Newcastle still awaiting a second goal of the campaign. Remarkably, Richarlison had up until that point not scored for Tottenham with his feet.

But he has now scored four goals in the last three games. And with that, some of the pressure is now off his shoulders.

Johnson definitely has the talent to follow in his footsteps.
