Jamie O’Hara says he’d take Manchester United’s Harry Maguire at Tottenham

Jamie O’Hara has claimed on that he would take Manchester United star Harry Maguire at Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.

The 29-year-old had a very impressive World Cup, but he has fallen down the pecking order under Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford. That has given rise to rumours about his future, and O’Hara believes he’d be a great signing for Antonio Conte’s Spurs.

Jamie O’Hara says he’d take Manchester United’s Harry Maguire at Tottenham

Manchester United paid £80 million () to sign Maguire from Leicester City in 2019. That was a world-record fee for a defender, and he was viewed by many as United’s answer to Liverpool signing Virgil van Dijk.

Maguire has definitely had his ups at Old Trafford, but his performances over the last few months haven’t been great at all. He has come under immense criticism, with many even urging Manchester United to get rid of him.

Spurs fan O’Hara discussed this last night and he claimed he’d love Maguire at Spurs. The pundit even went on to say that the Englishman is better than every defender at Tottenham bar Cristian Romero.

He : “I would take him. He’s better than what we’ve got, apart from Romero.

“He’s better than Eric Dier, he’s better than Ben Davies, he’s better than Lenglet. I’d have him at Spurs all day. He (Dier) has performed well this season but I think Harry Maguire would be a good signing.”

Maguire’s current contract at Manchester United expires in the summer of 2025.

Maguire has made plenty of mistakes over the last year, but it has to be said that some of the criticism he has received is over the top.

The Englishman is still a good defender – just look at his performances at the World Cup. He has what it takes to perform at the top level, and in our opinion, he’d be really good in Antonio Conte’s system.

In a three-man defence that rarely maintains a high line, Maguire could thrive, and his ability on the ball could help Spurs go from defence to attack very quickly.

It will be interesting to see what will happen with Maguire. We’re not sure if Spurs fans will take him, but we agree with O’Hara, we think he would be a very good signing for Tottenham.
