Jamie O’Hara gives his verdict on Eric Dier potentially leaving Tottenham for Bayern Munich

Jamie O’Hara has given his verdict on speculation that Eric Dier could leave Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich in the January transfer window.

The former Tottenham player and talkSPORT pundit is surprised at the rumour on the future of Dier.

So, what has Jamie O’Hara said about Eric Dier, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich? Let’s take a look.

Jamie O’Hara gives verdict on Eric Dier to Bayern Munich rumour

Well, Eric Dier could be on his way out of Tottenham Hotspur and join reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the January transfer window.

According to , Bayern are in talks with Spurs over a deal for Dier. He has told Tottenham that he wants to leave for the German giants, who signed England international striker Harry Kane from the North London club in the summer of 2023.

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported on Twitter that the 29-year-old, who can play as a defender or as a midfielder, has reached a total verbal agreement with Bayern.

Spurs themselves are ready to offload him. Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou does not have him in his plans.

Former Tottenham player and talkSPORT pundit cannot believe that Dier, who is struggling for playing time at Spurs at the moment, could end up at Bayern.

O’Hara said about Dier on : “Here’s a Carlsberg move for you. We talk about players and big moves who are potentially not very great, Bayern Munich, they look like they are going to sign Eric Dier from Tottenham.

“I mean, what a move! What a move this is for Eric Dier. I mean, look, he has had a brilliant career, fair play to him, Tottenham and England defender, he is out of sorts at Tottenham at the moment, it looks like he is just not going to get involved again, playing Emerson Royal and Ben Davies in front of him, he is going to Bayern Munich.”

My View: Eric Dier could flourish at Bayern Munich

One of the reasons why Eric Dier has not been able to make an impact at Tottenham Hotspur under head coach Ange Postecoglou is because of his lack of pace.

Spurs play a high line, and Dier is not the quickest of defenders, so I can understand why he has made only one start and just three substitute appearances in the Premier League this season.

It would be different at Bayern Munich. The German club do not play with a high line, and Dier would not be exposed. Moreover, he would be surrounded by top players such as Kane and Joshua Kimmich, and that would help the 29-year-old.
