Jamie O’Hara and Michel Vorm react as Toby Alderweireld’s Tottenham exit has been confirmed
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the departure of Toby Alderweireld, with the Belgian veteran joining Qatari side Al-Duhail. The defender leaves Spurs after six years in North London, and 236 appearances for Spurs. Jamie O’Hara and Michel Vorm have reacted on social media.
Alderweireld, 32, has been a sensational servant for Tottenham over the years since he was brought to the club by Mauricio Pochettino. Accolades during his Tottenham spell include being the club’s Player of the Year in 2015-16, and included in the Premier League TOTY in the same season.
Last term, Alderweireld made numerous mistakes – as did other centre-backs in the form of Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier. The 113-time Belgium international had entered the last year of his deal and that has convinced Spurs to cash in. He posted on Instagram following his exit.

While his form recently has been below par, his form in the early years at Tottenham was excellent. He will be remembered at Spurs for being a part of the golden era under Pochettino. The team which reached the Champions League final in 2018-19.
HLN claim that Tottenham are set to sell Alderweireld for £11million to Al-Duhail. It is the second long-standing exit at Spurs in two days, after Erik Lamela left the club in a swap deal for Bryan Gil. O’Hara paid tribute to Alderweireld, while Vorm posted an emotional message on Instagram.
