Jamie Donley says he’s trying to play just like £40m Tottenham player
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jamie Donley has now been discussing a senior player he’s begun to model his game on at Hotspur Way.
Donley, who’s having a remarkably good season for the Premier League 2 side, looks ever closer to Ange Postecoglou’s first team.

It was reported in January that Postecoglou didn’t want to loan Donley out mid-season, he wanted to keep him close to his senior side.
And when you consider that the likes of Alfie Devine and Ashley Phillips were allowed to depart to gain more experience, that perhaps speaks volumes.
Donley clearly has big potential, and judging by a recent interview with , the 19-year-old also has a lot of ambition too.
And as part of the interview, Donley discussed a player in Tottenham’s first team that he’s now trying to emulate.
Donley has become much more of a playmaker for Wayne Burnett this season, playing in a slightly deeper role at times.
And when James Maddison was injured earlier in the season, Postecoglou may have been tempted to turn to the youngster, who has admitted to admiring his senior counterpart.
Jamie Donley says he’s trying to play just like Tottenham player James Maddison
Donley explained that he’s got several excellent examples at Spurs, but said Maddison was now who he’s aiming to emulate.
He shared: “I probably look more at someone like James Maddison because I’ve been playing in midfield a lot of this season.

“All of them though to be honest I look to because they’re top, top players, they’re all internationals so that’s what I want to be. I look up to all of them because they’re great players and great professionals.
“Quite a few of them have taken me under their wing and given me advice, most of the English ones do. They’re all good lads and they encourage me.”
Of course, Donley had also been explaining the excellent role Son Heung-min has been playing as Spurs’ captain.
But it is surely very satisfying from a Tottenham fan point of view that Donley has a like Maddison working so closely, an international he can learn so much from.
And given this break in games for Postecoglou’s side, the youngster has probably had chance to learn a lot.
