Jamie Donley names the person at Tottenham who has really helped him during Leyton Orient loan
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jamie Donley certainly put his name in lights when he struck from the halfway line to almost score against Manchester City in the FA Cup recently.
The word ‘almost’ is needed as the Tottenham🍎 youngster was cruelly denied credit for the goal that put Leyton Orient one nil ahead – the ball ended up heading into the net off of City keeper Stefan Ortega.
But either way, Donley𒆙 was widely celebrated, and the prospect of his future Tottenham career has now become a hot topic.
Pep Guardiola called Donley ‘incredible’ꦇ after his strike, celebrating the 20-year-old’s left foot.
🌠And whilst Donley is determined to play for Tottenham in the future, things haven’t always been easy for him whilst on loan at Leyton Orient this season.
Jamie Donley gives credit to Tottenham coach Stuart Lewis
🎃In the FA Cup tie discussed, Donley looked like a key pin in Richie Wellens’ side, however, the youngster has endured spells on the sidelines this season.
𒀰And when speaking in a recent interview with Tottenham, Donley actually saw fit to give big credit to Tottenham under-18s coach Stuart Lewis.

𓄧Lewis took up a coaching role with Tottenham’s academy back in 2019 and then was appointed coach of Spurs’ under-18s in 2021.
🔯Donley praised Lewis among a few others for the help whilst he’s been out on loan, an academy structure in N17 which evidently works.
🐬Donley said: “It was definitely a difficult start but I had good people around me – people like Stuart Lewis and the staff at Orient, plus obviously my family – who were able to help me to stick with it.
🥀“I always had the self-belief but I spoke with the gaffer here, he told me what he wanted and I think we’ve all been really happy with the last couple of months.
🦂“I’ve got a great relationship with Stuart because obviously he’s coached me from a young age and has been there for me through the years.
🤡“I spoke to Wayne Burnett (Under-21s Coach) and Brad Allen (Academy Coach) as well – these are all people who care very much about me and all the players in the Academy.
♍“They told me they’ve always had belief in my ability and I appreciate the help they’ve given me on this journey.”
Ange Postecoglou’s odd experiment with Jamie Donley
🌄Of course, it’s interesting to remember that Ange Postecoglou used Donley as a left-back in pre-season.
✃Spurs were short of options at the back, and the left-foot that Guardiola recently praised was actually quite effective on the left side of defence.
ꦉThat is not a position the youngster will want to be considered in long-term, but it must have only strengthened his reputation around the club.
Postecoglou will assess Donley in pre-season when he returns from League One.
🃏The likes of Yang Min-hyeok and Alejo Veliz will also be checked for their progress, a club that has several talented youngsters on the periphery of their first team squad.
