Jamie Carragher thinks Jurgen Klopp could give ‘future captain’ his Liverpool debut against Manchester City
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Jurgen Klopp could look to give Ozan Kabak his Reds debut in Sunday’s Premier League encounter with Manchester City.
With Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and now Joel Matip ruled out long term, the reigning Premier League champions were forced into action in the latter stages of the January transfer window.
Two central defenders have arrived at Anfield – Ben Davies from Championship side Preston, and Turkey international Kabak on loan from Schalke.

According to , Schalke pocketed an initial loan fee of £1million, rising to £1.5million in potential add-ons.
Liverpool will retain an option to buy in the summer worth an initial £18million, which could rise to £26.5million with add-ons, and will have until June to trigger that clause, added the report.
The Reds were left reeling after a shock 1-0 defeat to Brighton in midweek, but Carragher thinks Klopp will change things around for Sunday’s game at Anfield, boosted by some returning players.
“It’s not the Liverpool team we’ve seen in the last couple of years, but it will be different to what we saw against Brighton,” Carragher told .
“I expect Alisson to be back, Fabinho could be back at centre-back, maybe the new centre-back Ozan Kabak plays with Jordan Henderson playing in midfield, and I think Sadio Mane will be back.
“If that is the case, it would feel like Liverpool had half of their team back, so that would be a lot stronger proposition and I think Liverpool will give City a really good game, I really do.”
TBR View:
Kabak is a high-calibre young player who has been spoken of very highly, so credit to Michael Edwards for working his magic once again.
Klopp the 20-year-old was deemed a “future captain of a team” by former Schalke boss and good friend David Wagner, who also said “everybody was clear he was a massive talent”.
If he’s thrown in at the deep end against City, hopefully he’ll hit the ground running and help the Anfield side to a positive result.
