Jamie Carragher shocked by Sol Campbell incident after Tottenham’s final game at White Hart Lane
Jamie Carragher has now been recalling Sol Campbell’s reaction to not being invited to Tottenham Hotspur’s closing of White Hart Lane.
Sol Campbell😼, who played for Spurs 301 times, lost a lot of his affinity with the club when he chose to sign for Arsenal in 2001.

ꦍCampbell made the north London switch on a free transfer, having not agreed a new contract with Tottenham.
♕To this day, Campbell’s agent at the time insists that he was keen to stay for a longer period, but was then wooed by Arsenal’s ambition in the 11th hour.
ꦑOf course, Campbell went on to play for Arsenal on 211 occasions as well, treading a career path not many had before him.
ꦆAnd when White Hart Lane closed in 2017, Campbell was actually shocked and upset that he wasn’t one of the 80 prominent figures invited to the ceremony.
Jamie Carragher✨ has now been discussing the reaction on and said he was shocked that Campbell thought Tottenham would involve him.
ꦆCarragher thought there was zero chance that the defender would be on the guest list and couldn’t understand his reaction.
Jamie Carragher amazed by Sol Campbell’s reaction to Tottenham snub
🌠Speaking about the perceived rejection, Carragher thought it was obvious that those bridges had been burnt.
ဣHe said: “I was flabbergasted. Remember when White Hart Lane had its last game and they invited all the legends there and they didn’t invite Sol Campbell and he was really upset about it.

ꦜ“I was like what do you expect? There was no way he was going to be invited.”
Of course, Tottenham♛ fans will probably echo Carragher’s thoughts, many probably feel the club did the right thing not inviting Campbell.
ಞThe former defender is now something of an Arsenal legend, and he can’t really have it both ways given the rivalry between the two.
𒀰So in truth, it seems that Campbell’s decision to move across north London was always going to tarnish his time with Spurs, no matter what came next.
That being said, it would be fascinating to see such a move play out either way right now in the era of Ange Postecoglou and Mikel Arteta.
ಌBut for now, we’ll probably have to settle for a fierce contest at the top of the Premier League.
All that being said, Fabio Paratici does now think Tottenham have a player who has similar qualities to Giorgio Chiellini.
