Jamie Carragher says one Arsenal player has badly underperformed at Euro 2024 so far
Jamie Carragher has criticised an Arsenal player’s performance at the European Championships in Germany.
England have really struggled to get up to speed this tournament but still managed to qualify for the knockout stages as group winners.
That said, serious improvement is needed, particularly in attack where Gareth Southgate’s men have lacked any sort of creativity.
During the goalless draw against Slovenia on Tuesday evening, England managed just four shots on goal without really threatening the Jan Oblak.
Carragher has now singled out an Arsenal player for his below-par performances.

Jamie Carragher says Bukayo Saka has had minimal impact
Carragher, writing in his column, has criticized Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka for his performances at Euro 2024.
“Saka is outstanding for Arsenal. He has had minimal impact in the past two-and-a-half games. At what point do we take a step back and agree that the underperformance is as much about individuals as the tactics?”
The 22-year-old certainly wasn’t at his best last night and seems to be struggling to create anything of note against a low block.
Admittedly, he finished off a brilliant England move which was ruled out for offside, so had Phil Foden timed his run, it may have been a completely different story.
Fine margins for England
The way Southgate has set up this England team means they aren’t actually a million miles away from reaching a sufficient level.
They’ve still remained tough to beat and for the most part pretty solid at the back, it’s just lacked that edge in attack.
Southgate may have that same view and could persist with Saka on the right, knowing that perhaps against a better-quality side, he’ll have more space to hurt the opposition.
Sunday’s team selection will be very interesting.
