Jamie Carragher says Newcastle may have to sell 26-year-old for £100 million in the summer

Jamie Carragher has said that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United might have to sell Bruno Guimaraes in the summer of 2024.

The former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit believes that for Financial Fair Play (FFP) reasons, Newcastle might have to cash in on Bruno and then use that money to bring in more players.

So, what has Jamie Carragher said about Newcastle United and Bruno Guimaraes? Let’s take a look.

Newcastle United tipped to sell Bruno Guimaraes

Well, Jamie Carragher has been giving his opinion on Newcastle United and how they have done under manager Eddie Howe.

The former Liverpool defender has noted the kind of players that Newcastle have signed.

The Sky Sports pundit has said that the likes of Sven Botman and Anthony Gordon are not exactly elite players, but manager Howe has done a great job in getting them to play well.

Carragher has also said that Newcastle might have to sell star midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who has been compared to Manchester City ace Rodri by another pundit, at the end of the season.

The pundit has argued that if Newcastle can get £100 million for the 26-year-old Brazil international midfielder, then they should sell him and invest that money to strengthen their squad.

Carragher said on (7:15 pm, January 1, 2024) “What Newcastle are having to do right now and Eddie Howe is basically take players that the big teams do not want right now.

“So, you are thinking Sven Botman at the back, Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon, Isak, they are the names off the top of my head, around £40 million. The top teams would have looked at them and probably thought, ‘Not for me’.

“They have done brilliant at Newcastle, and that is credit to that man there, Eddie Howe, because right now they are still buying under what you would class as elite. And that is going to continue for a long time.

“And there’s actually talk to actually comply with FFP and go again, they might actually have to sell one of their best players, maybe if someone offers £100 million for maybe Bruno Guimaraes, if you like, and it would give them the opportunity to go again.”

My View: Bruno Guimaraes will leave Newcastle in the future

Newcastle United fans are not going to like this, but I believe that it is only a matter of time before Bruno Guimaraes leaves the club. Barcelona are interested in him.

Yes, I know that Newcastle are a big club and finished in the top four of the Premier League table last season, but they are not in a position yet to challenge for the league title or make a huge impact in the UEFA Champions League.

The Magpies may not end up in the top four this season. Yes, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) have a lot of money, but, as Jamie Carragher has noted, Newcastle have to comply with FFP regulations.

have been . I do not think that the midfielder would turn down the chance to play for arguably the biggest club in the world if they come for him in the summer of 2024.
