Jamie Carragher says Liverpool pair were ‘so sloppy’ against Manchester United today

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville were almost left baffled by the performances of Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai as Liverpool toiled during the first-half against Manchester United on Sunday.

⛄Those of us who expected the Reds to blow Erik ten Hag’s side away at Anfield were in for a surprise. Jurgen Klopp’s men did dominate the ball. And the visitors were incredibly poor.

However, Liverpool were pretty woeful whenever they got into the final third. And two of the most disappointing performances in that sense came from Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai.

🐽Salah meanwhile, is having another incredible season, with his goal against Crystal Palace last weekend proving to be his 200th for Liverpool during his career.

But after the pair squandered an opportunity to break into the United box during the first-half, both Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville♛ noted on (broadcast on 17/12; 16:57) how poor the two players had been in those crucial moments when Liverpool needed that bit of quality.

♔“Salah and Szoboszlai have been so sloppy at times when they’re in dangerous positions. The two of them, on this right-hand side,” Carragher said.

🦂“It’s like they’ve got their boots on the wrong feet. Don’t think I’ve seen them as sloppy as this,” Neville added.

Egyptian’s performance a surprise

♑Despite Liverpool going into the weekend top of the Premier League table, it is fair to say that the Reds have not found their best form so far this season.

🌟They have needed a couple of superb comebacks lately.

🐻So perhaps it should not have been entirely surprising that Liverpool did not replicate their victory in the same fixture last season.

🌠However, Salah has been almost as good as he ever has been this season. He has already scored 11 times in the league. So it was a shock that he was so poor against ten Hag’s men.
