Jamie Carragher says Liverpool have a 17-year-old youngster who is ‘pretty special’
Liverpool’s first pre-season under Arne Slot has been very promising to say the least.
The Reds picked up impressive victories in pre-season against both Arsenal and Manchester United, as a number of players managed to impress their new manager.
Trey Nyoni has earned plenty of plaudits during pre-season for his performances, and speaking on the , Jamie Carragher has shared how impressed he’s bee by the midfielder.
Indeed, according to Carragher, Nyoni has looked pretty special in pre-season, claiming that the teenager has wowed him.

Carragher shared his verdict on the teenager, claiming that he’s looking special for Liverpool.
“It’s not enough to do ok. You have to grab people by the throat. This young lad Nyoni. Am I getting that right? He’s 17 is he? What he has done at 17 is pretty special. I know it’s only pre-season, but you’re thinking ‘wow’,” Carragher said.
Trey Nyoni has a bright future
Trey Nyoni may not get a first-team chance at Liverpool this season. After all, he is only 17 years old, but he does have a big future.
Indeed, Nyoni has been shining in pre-season, and the teenager has even impressed John Barnes.
“I thought all of the youngsters who came on in the second half did us proud, from Koumas, Nyoni who came on in the first-half was very impressive, he’s only 17,” Barnes said after the Real Betis game in pre-season.
“Also the thing about him that I saw. A lot of players at his age would play it safe and go backwards, but he looked forward, and when there were tight angles to play between people he plays it, he plays with maturity.”
This is a young man who has such a bright future at Anfield, and there is plenty of reason to be excited about what the midfielder can bring in the coming years.
