Jamie Carragher says Declan Rice seemed really disappointed in one Arsenal teammate
Arsenal need to pick themselves up after suffering the second major setback of the 2024/25 campaign.
The Gunners are now out of the Carabao Cup as well as the FA Cup after a 4-0 defeat to Newcastle across two legs, although Mikel Arteta could still win the Premier League and UEFA Champions League this season.
Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
1 | 23 | 17 | 5 | 1 | 56 | 21 | 35 | 56 | |
2 | 24 | 14 | 8 | 2 | 49 | 22 | 27 | 50 | |
3 | 24 | 14 | 5 | 5 | 40 | 27 | 13 | 47 |
Not only have Arsenal been knocked out of the Carabao Cup, but the north Londoners must also embark on the business end to the campaign without any new signings – despite Arteta trying to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
It means the Arsenal squad need to stay tight and stick together – although Jamie Carragher thinks Declan Rice꧃ will be feeling annoyed at one teammate right now.
Jamie Carragher says Declan Rice looked upset with Myles Lewis-Skelly
Myles Lewis-Skelly⛦ has made headlines lately after the Arsenal No.49 opted to celebrate his goal against Manchester City by mocking Erling Haaland, mimicking the Norwegian’s trademark celebration.
🎶Carragher did not like what he saw from the Hale End graduate, and claimed that Rice didn’t either.
👍The Sky Sports pundit told The Overlap US: “I don’t care that Haaland basically said to him in the first game, who the —- are you? You’re a young player! I don’t think Lewis-Skelly is in a position to be taking the —- out of Haaland, who has scored 250 goals and won every trophy under the sun.
🌟“If that was a player at Liverpool and I was a senior pro, I would say, listen, you’re doing amazing, nobody wants to knock your confidence, you’ve got great arrogance on the pitch, you want the ball in tight areas, so don’t get involved in that. You’re not at the level yet of Haaland.
𒐪“I think Declan Rice was actually looking at him and thinking, get yourself up. Stop showboating in front of the crowd.”
Nothing wrong with what Myles Lewis-Skelly did during Arsenal 5-1 Manchester City
ไIn our view, the outrage towards Lewis-Skelly has been well over the top.

The Premier League are even considering a rule change🌱 regarding celebrations in the aftermath of the England U19 international mocking Haaland.
🎐Football fans often pine for a bit of character to make its way back into the game, with many players nowadays coming across as PR-trained robots during interviews, so it was refreshing to see Lewis-Skelly show some individualism.
