Jamie Carragher has delivered a hilarious response on TalkSPORT (Wednesday, 11:10AM) when askedꦉ about Rafa Benitez’s reportedly imminent arrival at Everton. Carragher worked under Benitez at Liverpool. Now, the ex-Reds gaffer is reportedly closing in on a move to Everton.
Benitez, 61, spent six years at Liverpool betwee♑n 2004 and 2010 – clocking up 350 games in charge. He took the Reds to two Champions League finals, famously winning one of those against Milan in Istanbul. He holds iconic status at Liverpool, but is placing that in danger with his next move.

Is Benitez the right appointment for Everton – amid Carragher comments?
For Benitez, it is ideal. His🙈 family live on Merseyside having remained there since his time at Anfield. It sees him take over a club who are pushing for Europe in the Premier League, and gives him a route back into England’s top tier. For Everton, it is also an excellent appointment.
It sees Everton appoint♉ a manager with massive pedigree, with European know how and with a nous in the transfer market. But the fan backlash means he already has to work hard to get the support of the terraces. It might prove to his detriment.
