Jamie Carragher praises ‘monster’ Liverpool defender Nat Phillips
Jamie Carragher was left hugely impressed by Liverpool’s Nat Phillips after his latest display in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old completed 90 minutes during Liverpool’s victory away to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.
Diogo Jota scored the winner against his former club Wolves in a 1-0 league win.
Jurgen Klopp’s side now have a three-week period without fixture, and they go into it after back-to-back clean sheets.
The Reds centre-back partnership of Phillips and Ozan Kabak has looked effective, securings wins over Wolves and also RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
Carragher picked out Phillips as a big positive from Monday’s result, highlighting his dominance in the air.
“He is a monster in the air,” Carragher told .
“So when you talk about what Liverpool lack when other ones are playing, they get a great deal in terms of defending set-pieces and his ability in the air. He’s a real monster in that position.”

TBR’s View:
Phillips looks like an old school defender, someone that loves the physical side of the game and is prepared to put his head in where it hurts.
The man mountain centre-half has really stepped up this season whenever called upon in the Liverpool first team, something that would’ve been unthinkable without wholesale injuries.
If he can continue in the same kind of form, it looks like there may be a permanent spot for him in the squad at Anfield.
There is plenty of wok for him to become a top-class operator, but he plays with plenty of aggression, and is someone the fans love.
