Jamie Carragher explains whether he thinks West Ham should sack David Moyes

Jamie Carragher has now been sharing his view on whether West Ham United should decide to sack David Moyes this season.

Despite all he’s achieved during his second spell with the club, Moyes’ future beyond this campaign does seem up in the air.

West Ham are seventh in the league and advancing into the last 16 of the Europa League, but a lot of fans aren’t happy with the football being played.

Gary Neville recently compared West Ham’s situation under Moyes to that of Tottenham Hotspur in the past.

Neville seemed to compare Moyes to Antonio Conte, explaining that the pair would never get you in danger, but yet fans would never be entirely happy whilst they are around.

Many may think Moyes’ treatment is and has been harsh, however, fans are entitled to both their opinion and ambition.

That all being said, Jamie Carragher was discussing the situation on today.

Carragher explained his view on whether West Ham should sack Moyes, and actually thought the manager should take the decision out of the club’s hands.

Jamie Carragher thinks David Moyes should walk away from West Ham this season

Carragher was confident that West Ham shouldn’t be sacking Moyes, but thought he should leave anyway.

He explained: “I’d say stick. I don’t see any manager coming in and getting them higher in the table or in Europe but actually from David Moyes’s point of view, it might be better for him, just to say ‘I’ve done my West Ham thing, I’ve done amazing’ don’t stay there next season.

“Because next season could be like last season where you finish 12th or 14th and he probably would go on the back of that.

“If David Moyes could get to the semi-final in Europe and cement that position of seventh or eighth that would be a brilliant way to go out. I wouldn’t want to see him get criticised next season.”

Of course, the situation Carragher described could be perfect for all West Ham parties, including Moyes.

The Scot has done a superb job all in all, but the club and its fan base clearly want to target the top, top level, even with the risks that could bring.

All that being said, it will be interesting to see how West Ham approach this summer’s transfer window irrespective of all this speculation.

And it seems they do have a serious chance of landing a deal for an incredibly impressive forward.
