Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane say Manchester United need to sell £80m player now

Both Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane are convinced one Manchester United player needs to leave the club with some urgency.

The pair were speaking alongside Gary Neville and Ian Wright on the ‘’ podcast released this morning.

And all four pundits agreed that Harry Maguire needs to leave the club – the best solution for both parties.

Maguire’s move hasn’t been a success, despite all the excellent moments he’s achieved with England.

And although he seems determined to succeed at United, Carragher and Keane were adamant that it’s time to go.

, Carragher started: “Move on.”

Keane agreed: “They need better. Move on.

Gary Neville replied: “I’m going last straw, because I want to see him under a new ownership. I have seen Harry Maguire play well for England, I want to see him have one more chance.

Ian Wright then added: “I like that, I’m going with you!”

Of course, these thoughts were likely recorded before Manchester United’s timely win over Chelsea last night – a game in which Maguire did play well.

Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane still think Harry Maguire needs to leave Man United

However, as is the case with a lot of United’s problems, one good performance is slightly papering over the cracks.

Maguire clearly isn’t in Erik ten Hag’s first team when all are available – even if Raphael Varane is now often on the bench.

And the 30-year-old clearly does have so much left to offer, a player who Gareth Southgate refuses to drop internationally.

It’s certainly a peculiar situation, one that must be harder for Maguire since being stripped of the captaincy.

And although there’s some doubt over his performances, his fierce loyalty could never be called into question.

It seems Carragher and Keane may just consider United a level too high for Maguire now, even if some would disagree.

However, a fresh start does seem advisable for the centre-back, who could captain many good sides in the Premier League.

One player who is now starting to build his United career is Alejandro Garnacho.

And Patrice Evra thought his work rate was outstanding last night.
