Jamie Carragher admits Tottenham fans will be ‘shouting’ after what he’s said about Ruben Amorim at Manchester United
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur both have a lot of work to do if they are to secure a top-half Premier League finish this season.
Manchester United experienced a brief uptick in form after Ruben Amorim took the reins but they’ve since struggled to the point that they’re slipping into a relegationꦦ battle.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have been beset by inconsiཧstency amid a major injury crisis that has seen Spurs without most of their key defenders at various points this season.
Both Amorim and Ange Postecoglou have opted to stiౠck to their guns in terms of tactics, despite calls from some quart🐲ers to change them based on their current situations.
Jamie Carragher,🦄 writing in , explained why he agrees with Amorim sticking to his preferred formation despite his criticism of Postecoglou’s approach.

Jamie Carragher slates Ange Postecoglou’s in-game management at Tottenham
Carragher believes that Amorim’s reason for being at Man United would be undermine♓d by a switch to four at the ba൩ck.
The pundit feels this is different to his criꦜticism of Postecoglou, because in his case it’s not a tactical issue, but a game management issue.
Carragher wrote: ‘Speaking to Gary Neville before the N🌠ewcastle United defeat, Amorim said it would be “the e✤nd for any coach” if they started changing their ideas because of results.
‘If Amorim 🧸switched to four at the back in response to United’s ༒results it would undermine his reason for being there.
‘Some coaches, especially those near the bottom of the table w✱hose remit is to survive, look at a squad and mould the team to suit those available.
With Amorim it is the opposite. The players may change but the formation will not. I admire that 🔴and agree with it.
‘Iꦡ know Tottenham Hotspur fans are reading that and shouting “hypocrite” after recent criticisms of Ange Postecoglou.
Wrong. Postecoglou’s♛ ꦫpreferred playing style is not the issue. His in-game management is.
‘My analysis of Spurs’ failings is based on the manager’s refusal to shift emphasis from attac🍨k to defence when the game situation, s꧑kill set and experience level of those on the field demand it.’
What Amorim and Postecoglou have said about their respective tactical approaches
“With bad results, it’s really difficult to sell an 🅷idea,” Amorim told Sky Sports before Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle.
“I was hir🌼ed because of that idea, and in these difficult moments if you change your mind, it is the end for any coach.”
Meanwhile, Postecoglou has previousꦛly 🐷said about his style of play: “From my perspective, it’s about what everyone wants me to 🐼do is what everyone else does.
🍸“Now, I’m just not going to do that because there’s a reason I’m ♏here today, it’s not because I’ve done what everyone else does.
“So I think everyone has their own unique journey to get to somewhere, I didn’t get here by doing what everyone else is doi💖ng.
“So I get the people who say ‘be more pragmatic’ like everyone else – But I dܫon’t want to be like everyone else.
“What others see a𒐪s stubbornness or me being dogmatic, I just see it as real belief in what I’m doing.”
