James Tavernier already impressed by new Rangers signing Sheyi Ojo in training

that Sheyi Ojo’s stamina and power has caught the eye of the Gers skipper during his first two days in training.

Ojo, 22, became Steven Gerrard’s fifth signing of the summer window after the Liverpool legend also brought in Greg Stewart, Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie and Steven Davis on a permanent deal until next summer.

Liverpool youngster Ojo took part in training on Tuesday and Wednesday after agreeing a season-long loan at Ibrox, which was confirmed on Tuesday afternoon. The youngster is certainly somewhat of a coup for the Gers.

Asked about the new signings, captain Tavernier spoke of how “strong a runner” Ojo is and underlined his excitment at seeing the versatile attacker pull on a Light Blue shirt.

“I have heard some good things about Sheyi,” “I heard Don Cowie who was at Wigan with him said he was a really good player so he is obviously as excited player for us to get.

“I have seen in the past couple of days how strong a runner he is. I can’t wait to see him out on the pitch properly.”

TBR’s view

There is no surprise that Ojo will be a hit at Rangers. A player to have played in France’s top tier with Stade Reims last season and one that has broken into the senior Reds side 13 times, he certainly has enormous quality.

With Ryan Kent not signed on for next season, Ojo is more than an adequate replacement and if the Gers cannot complete a deal for Kent – Ojo’s presence will more than fill the void.

But an attack with includes Ojo – who can also play in midfield – and Kent, would be very difficult to cope with for not only Celtic, but Rangers’ Europa League opponents next season.
