James Tarkowski says 21-year-old defender Tottenham want to sign is absolutely rapid

James Tarkowski has given his verdict on Everton teammate Jarrad Branthwaite, a player Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur want to sign.

Tarkowski has noted what makes Branthwaite special and has outlined his attributes.

So, what has James Tarkowski said about Tottenham Hotspur target Jarrad Branthwaite? Let’s take a look.

James Tarkowski gives verdict on Tottenham Hotspur target Jarrad Branthwaite

Well, Everton defender James Tarkowski has been raving about his teammate Jarrad Branthwaite.

Tarkowski, who has been on the books of Everton since 2022, has been hugely impressed by Branthwaite, who has established himself in the first team this season.

The 21-year-old centre-back has made 14 appearances in the Premier League for the Toffees this campaign.

reported this week that Tottenham want to sign the Everton defender in the January transfer window. The Merseyside club value Branthwaite at £75 million.

Tarkowski said about Branthwaite on : “He’s been outstanding because he didn’t even start the first couple of games and then we lost them both and he came in and ever since he has been outstanding.

“He’s a physical beast. I trust that I can leave him one vs one in the channel because he’s so quick. I think he might be our quickest player. People try and run him down the line, I think Antonio tried to run him and we know Antonio is a monster himself, and Jarrad just dealt with him down the line and I was like fair enough, I’ll let you deal with it!”

Jarrad Branthwaite would make Tottenham better

In my view, Tottenham Hotspur would be a better team with Jarrad Branthwaite in it. He is one of the best young defenders around.

Yes, Tottenham are quite good in central defence. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are the two main centre-backs for Spurs and play when they are fit and available.

Ashley Phillips is a young and promising defender who could become a star for Spurs in the coming years.

Eric Dier is out of contract at Tottenham at the end of the season. It is unlikely that he will get a new deal and could even leave in January.

So, Spurs do need a new centre-back. Now, I do not think that Everton are going to sell Branthwaite in the middle of the season.

The 21-year-old himself may not be keen on leaving in January. However, Tottenham are a big club, and if they made a big offer for Branthwaite in the summer of 2024, then they could be able to sign him.
