James Milner, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Liverpool players react as Ben Woodburn departs
Ben Woodburn has completed a move to Scottish Premiership side Hearts on a season-long loan move from Liverpool. The talented Wales international has struggled to build on scoring on his Liverpool debut. Plenty responded, including James Milner and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Woodburn, 21, was handed a debut for Liverpool as a 17-year-old against Leeds United in the Carabao Cup and scored. It saw him break Michael Owen’s record, becoming Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer. But things have not gone to plan since.
Milner, Alexander-Arnold react as Woodburn joins Hearts from Liverpool
Woodburn has clocked up 11 senior outings for Liverpool, and has two goals in 10 caps for the senior Wales team. But he has failed to replicate the immediate breakthrough – struggling on loan at Sheffield United. One goal and five assists came in 16 games during a temporary spell at Oxford.
But clearly, he is a well-liked member of the Liverpool squad. Having posted on Instagram, plenty responded wishing the attacker well. The likes of Milner and Alexander-Arnold were joined by captain Jordan Henderson and Scottish skipper Andy Robertson in commenting.
