James McFadden says two Everton players redeemed themselves today, both were truly ‘excellent’
Everton cult hero James McFadden has lauded Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey for their efforts against Manchester United.
The 38-year-old was commentating on the Premier League encounter at Goodison Park on .
Everton went into the Red Devils game on the back of three consecutive defeats in all competitions.

Optimism among Blues fans was low in the lead-up to the game, but their team delivered a great display.
Anthony Gordon’s deflected goal in the first half proved the difference between the two sides.
The Everton academy graduate’s 27th-minute strike came off Harry Maguire and wrong-footed David de Gea.
Jordan Pickford was also in fine form, making a string of important saves to thwart the lethargic Red Devils.
Keane and Godfrey have come under major criticism at times this season, but both did well against United.
The former was back from suspension, while the latter made an awful mistake in the lead-up to Burnley’s deciding goal on Wednesday.
Keane did have a few nervy moments in the first half, but improved in the second period.
Likewise, Godfrey was solid throughout, showing great positioning, winning headers and making crucial interceptions.
“Difficult to beat”
McFadden praised both defenders, as well as the goalkeeper and the Toffees fans, on 5 Live.
“The result is the most important thing,” he said.
“But the things that have been questioned of Everton – character, defensive capabilities, the ability to see out a performance – they were all on show today.
“Jordan Pickford was outstanding, Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey have both come in for a lot of criticism but they were excellent, difficult to beat, putting blocks in.
“Great performances all over the pitch for Everton, a fantastic result but there’s still a lot to be done.
“What they’ve shown is that they can perform at home and the fans will get behind them.
“It would be easy of the fans to turn today and wait to be entertained but they didn’t, they turned up in numbers and they’ve got something to shout about today.”
