James Maddison reacts with four words after seeing what Alejo Veliz did for Tottenham vs Brighton

Alejo Veliz scored his first goal for Tottenham Hotspur last night in their defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion, and James Maddison has shown him some love on Instagram.

Spurs were outclassed by Roberto De Zerbi‘s Seagulls yesterday. They went four goals down at one point and it could’ve been worse if it wasn’t for Guglielmo Vicario‘s brilliance. Despite the defeat, Veliz will remember the game for a long, long time.

Tottenham’s James Maddison sends message to Alejo Veliz after his debut goal

Tottenham signed Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central for £13 million in the summer ().

The Argentine was viewed as one for the future and wasn’t even expected to play a part for Spurs’ senior side until after the first half of the season.

However, he has made a few substitute appearances over the last few months, with last night being his longest run-out on the pitch.

Veliz took his opportunity fantastically well and scored his first-ever goal for Tottenham. It didn’t, in any way, change the result, but the goal should give him a ton of confidence.

The youngster took to to celebrate his strike last night. James Maddison was among those who showed him some love.

He wrote: “Congrats mate. Now more!”

Veliz could get more opportunities at Tottenham

Tottenham’s Alejo Veliz has been linked with a move away on loan in January, but those plans could change now.

Spurs will be without Heung-min Son next month when he goes away on international duty. Richarlison will be the main man then, and he will need support.

The only strikers available at Tottenham‘s disposal are young Veliz, the versatile Jamie Donley and Dane Scarlett, who was recalled from his loan spell this week.

Veliz is ahead of them in the pecking order, and following his goal last night, we won’t be surprised at all to see him get more game time in the coming weeks.
