Tottenham Hotspur have had some great players over the years who have always been slightly underrated.

Mousa Dembele was a remarkably underrated player according to Antonio Rudiger, while 🙈Michael Dawson believes Michael Carrick was very underrated at Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski has been described as underrated after his recent performances for Tottenham.

Speaking to JD Football, James Maddison📖 has been asked to name who he believes to be the most underrated player at Spurs right now, and he gave an interesting answer.

Indeed, according to Maddison, the most underrated player at Tottenham is actually Cristian Romero.

🔥The midfielder says that Romero is a top player and a lot of people have it wrong about the Argentine, stating that he believes there’s a perception around Romero that he’s an ill-disciplined hot-head.

ꦫ“Underrated? Cristian Romero. Top, top centre-back,”

༒“For some reason in England I feel like he has the perception of being a hot head who gets a lot of red cards and isn’t disciplined, but it’s the opposite, he’s a World Cup winner and he’s a top player.

Cristian Romero’s disciplinary record

﷽Maddison says that Romero’s reputation as a hot head is underserved, but the stats say otherwise.

ꦡIndeed, while Romero is a quality player, as Maddison says, he does also have that mean streak to him.

ౠRomero’s disciplinary record since joining Tottenham isn’t the best to say the least.

🍎Romero is averaging a red card every 28 games for Tottenham.

🍌For some context, Patrick Vieira is the joint-most red-carded player in Premier League history and he averaged a red card every 38 games or so.

𝔉Romero is a top player, but there’s no point having a top player when he can’t stay on the pitch.

༺The Argentine does have a discipline problem and as good of a footballer as Romero is, these issues will cause Tottenham problems in the long run.
