James Maddison and Dominic Solanke send messages to Djed Spence after he starred for Tottenham vs Man United

Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win against Manchester United must have served as a reminder to the Spurs players that they have it in them to take the club in the right direction.

In what has been a tumultuous season for Ange Postecoglou and Co, both the manager and the players have been widely criticised and naturally, their confidence must have taken a hit.

But football always seems to give one a second chance, one which Tottenham grabbed with both hands and Manchester United let slip.

James Maddison was perhaps the embodiment of Spurs’ fighting spirit as he scored the game’s only goal on Sunday.

In the lead-up to the contest, Maddison was torn into by Roy Keane but the 28-year-old’s defiance shone through as he pounced upon Andre Onana’s parried stop to score an early winner for Tottenham.

Similarly, Djed Spence continues to prove to Ange Postecoglou that he might have made a grave error in not making him a starter earlier as the English full-back impressed once again in his side’s victory against Manchester United.

James Maddison and Dominic Solanke hail Djed Spence after Tottenham vs Man United

Maddison and Dominic Solanke went out of their way to laud Spence’s all-action display against United.

The injured Solanke hailed Spence’s display against Manchester United right after the contest as well.

The former Nottingham Forest full-back garnered praise on Instagram from plenty of his Tottenham teammates as he was a rock at the back against United.

Maddison commented on Spence’s Instagram post, writing: “I’ll be honest, top draw, mush.”

Solanke simply wrote: “Coldest!”

Pedro Porro hailed Spence’s performance against Manchester United as well, commenting: “Top, my bro!”

Djed Spence completed the most dribbles out of any player in Tottenham vs Manchester United

It’s safe to say that Spence’s teammates at Tottenham were floored by his heroics against the Red Devils and justifiably so.

The £20 million () defender made a number of crucial blocks inside the box, well-timed challenges and carried the ball incredibly well against Manchester United.

The 24-year-old has been in terrific form for several weeks now, with Gary Lineker tipping Spence for an England call-up as well.

Against Manchester United, Spence was not even dribbled past once, won seven duels, misplaced just five of his 58 passes while creating one chance but most impressively, he completed the most dribbles (three) out of any player on the pitch.

Perhaps Spence is now Tottenham’s best full-back and with performances like his latest one, Ange Postecoglou has no choice but to handpick him as one of the first names on the team sheet in the subsequent weeks.
