Jamal Musiala says £50m star Chelsea wanted to sign last summer is actually better than Cole Palmer

Chelsea have looked really good this season, and Cole Palmer is one of the biggest reasons why.

The Englishman has been incredible for the Blues since he joined them in 2023. Everyone knew that he was a good player, but nobody would’ve predicted the output he has delivered.

Palmer has scored 36 goals and provided 21 assists for Chelsea in all competitions so far. He is their best player by a distance and is among the most talented footballers in the world.

Chelsea fans are delighted they have Palmer in their squad, but one old Blues target is apparently better than the England international.

Jamal Musiala says Michael Olise is better than Chelsea’s Cole Palmer

Michael Olise was among the most impressive attackers in the Premier League during his time at Crystal Palace.

The Frenchman directly contributed to 41 goals in 90 appearances for the Eagles, and he attracted interest from several top clubs.

Back in June this year, it was reported that Chelsea were advancing in talks to sign Olise from Crystal Palace. The Blues had tried to land him in previous windows too.

However, no deal materialised, and Olise ended up joining Bayern Munich for around £50 million () before the start of the season.

Now, in a video posted by Goal, Germany and Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala was asked to pick who is better between Olise and Palmer.

The 21-year-old, who was formerly a part of Chelsea’s academy, picked Olise over the Blues superstar.

Compared: Michael Olise vs Cole Palmer in 2024/25

Olise and Palmer are both remarkable footballers.

The Chelsea man has been one of the best players in the Premier League for over a year now, while the French winger has had a good start to life at Bayern Munich.

But, who has had a better 2024/25 season?

As you can see above, there’s not a lot separating Palmer and Olise at the moment – they are both exceptional footballers.

Musiala thinks Olise is the better player, but we’re sure Chelsea fans won’t be too upset about that – they would rather have Palmer, who has been incredible for them.

If things continue to go to plan for Chelsea, there is a chance Palmer and Olise will face each other in the Champions League next season. We can decide who the better player is then.
