Jacob Steinberg shares Trevoh Chalobah latest amid Newcastle, Tottenham, Manchester United, West Ham and Crystal Palace links

Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, West Ham and Crystal Palace are just some of the Premier League clubs that have been linked with Trevoh Chalobah in recent weeks.

With transfer deadline day fast approaching, clubs are expected to step up their transfer activities before the window shuts at 11pm BST on Friday 30 August.

The Magpies, the Lilywhites, the Red Devils, the Hammers and the Eagles are all said to be in the market for a new centre-back.

Meanwhile, Chalobah is out of favour at Chelsea and has been stripped of his squad number at Stamford Bridge, suggesting he’ll be on the move.

GiveMeSport reported a few weeks ago that Newcastle, Man United and West Ham were in the picture for Chalobah.

The Blues man has also been linked with Spurs recently, as Tottenham currently don’t have many senior options at centre-back.

As for the Eagles, they are said to be looking at Chalobah in case the in-demand Marc Guehi leaves Palace this summer.

Now, Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian has shared the latest on the Chalobah state of play amid all the heavy transfer speculation.

‘Nothing presented’ appeals to Trevoh Chalobah thus far

According to Steinberg, “solid interest” in Chalobah is yet to materialise despite all the speculation.

And in terms of the approaches that have been made, there is “nothing presented that appeals to him so far”.

With that in mind, “there’s still a chance he holds on at Chelsea,” added Steinberg.

Things could change quickly as deadline edges ever closer

With Chelsea seemingly trying to move a multitude of players out this summer, it looks like the interest in Chalobah is still at surface level for now.

However, things can change quickly at this stage of the transfer window. For instance, Federico Chiesa was said to be a target for many clubs, and only now are Liverpool seemingly making a move.

The next few days should be interested. It’s clear that Chelsea want to move Chalobah on, and perhaps things will step up as the deadline edges ever closer.

After all, Chalobah is a quality defender who has a lot to offer pretty much every club in the Premier League.
