Jacob Ramsey compared to former Aston Villa hero David Platt
Aston Villa talent Jacob Ramsey has been compared to a former Villa Park star by his most recent loan boss.
The 19-year-old joined League One side Doncaster Rovers on loan at the start of the year and had an immediate impact at the Keepmoat Stadium.
He scored two goals on his debut and also scored in his seventh and final game for the club against MK Dons in March before the league was suspended amid the global health crisis.

It was the sort of form which will not have surprised Aston Villa fans who saw Ramsey’s impressive form for the under-23s before the loan move. Ramsey had scored six goals and assisted five in his 12 appearances in PL2 this season.
His manager at Doncaster, former West Brom defender Darren Moore, has been discussing Ramsey’sand compared the teen to former Aston Villa star David Platt, highlighting his ability to arrive late in the box.
“He’s a very good player. He added that bit more power to the midfield.
“He’s a goalscoring midfielder. If you’ve got that at this level, it helps a lot. It takes a bit of pressure off the forwards and it gives the opposition something else to worry about.
“He was almost David Platt-esque how he arrived late in the box. It’s an unbelievable skill that he’s got to arrive late.
“He’s got the power to get off the back of people and come in from deep to create overloads.”
That is huge praise indeed. Platt spent three years at Villa, scoring 64 goals for the club and winning the PFA Players’ Player of the Year in 1989-90, before joining Italian side Bari in a big-money deal.
Ramsey is clearly impressing to be compared to such an elusive talent as Platt. Indeed, in March that Dean Smith views Ramsey as a potential first-team squad member next season. Aston Villa fans will no doubt be hoping that the teenager can follow in the footsteps of Jack Grealish and become a star at Villa Park.
