Jacob Murphy suggests Tottenham sold a player who was even better than Kevin De Bruyne

Newcastle United’s Jacob Murphy has been ranking some of the Premier League’s all-time greats, and has made an interesting claim about one Tottenham star.

The winger was asked to compare and rate some of the best players to grace English football over the past few years, and he’s made a few interesting claims.

Indeed, Murphy was asked about big debates such as Mohamed Salah vs Cristiano Ronaldo and Eden Hazard vs Frank Lampard.

However, perhaps the most intriguing claim the Newcastle star made was regarding a former Tottenham player.

Indeed, Murphy was asked to compare Harry Kane to a number of high-profile Premier League legends, and he made some interesting claims here.

Jacob Murphy picks Harry Kane over Steven Gerrard

Murphy was asked to choose between Kane and a few Premier League legends, and, more often than not, Kane came out on top.

The Newcastle star picked Kane over the likes of Frank Lampard, Yaya Toure and Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and Kevin De Bruyne.

However, eventually, Murphy picked Mohamed Salah over Harry Kane, and it’s easy to understand why when you look at the stats, especially as Salah has been in Ballon d’Or winning form this year.

Tottenham, of course, sold Harry Kane to Bayern Munich two years ago.

Kane was a world-class striker when he was at Spurs, and he undoubtedly goes down as a Premier League great.

Remarkably, Murphy and Kane actually played together at Norwich City.

Kane went to Norwich on loan back in 2012, and both players were in the infancy of their careers at that point.

Both Murphy and Kane didn’t get much gametime for Norwich that season. However, they did actually play one game together for the U21s.

Kane and Murphy played together for Norwich’s U21s vs West Ham, and that game was a 3-1 win for the Canaries with Kane scoring a goal that was assisted by Murphy.

Murphy has been in excellent form this season, and he may well be sharing a pitch with Kane again at some point in the near future should he get an England call-up, a call-up that, in the eyes of many, is overdue at this point.
