Jack Harrison must prove Tony Pulis and Leeds United doubters wrong
When Leeds United face Middlesbrough at the weekend there will be a few players with a point to prove at the Riverside. The likes of Adam Forshaw and Patrick Bamford are both former Boro players once deemed surplus to requirements at the Riverside. Jack Harrison is another.
The winger joined the Teessiders on loan last January. At the time, Boro boss Tony Pulis was clearly happy with the acquisition,.
“He is a very talented player, he has good pace and can play off people as well. He can see a pass and can score a goal. We are doing this, not just with this season in mind because if he does well we are hoping Man City will let us have him next year as well.”
However, he never truly settled at Boro. Harrison played just four times for the club, spending most of his time on the bench. That desire to sign him again this season quickly evaporated.
Leeds United fans can probably understand why. The 22-year-old has been a frustrating figure at Elland Road. There is undoubted ability but he is also wasteful in possession and not clinical enough in the final third.
His record of just two goals and two assists from 24 games is simply not the level Leeds fans expected from the Manchester City loanee.
This weekend would be the perfect time for him to turn things around. Leeds need some unlikely heroes now more than ever. Managing to help his current club and show Pulis what he’s capable of would be the perfect result for the young talent.
