Jack Grealish praises forgotten Aston Villa duo Jonathan Kodjia and Mile Jedinak for Rotherham performances

Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish reserved special praise for Jonathan Kodjia and Mile Jedinak after the midweek victory over Rotherham United.

that Kodjia and Jedinak stepped up well to help the team’s turnaround.

Aston Villa went down to ten men and 1-0 down when Tyrone Mings was sent off for a handball in the area 10 minutes before half-time.

Jedinak, playing for the first time in over two months, was thrown into the deep end alongside Axel Tuanzebe at centre-back for the rest of the game.

The Australian ensured Rotherham did not score any more goals, while half-time substitute Kodjia netted the equaliser from the spot.

It was the Ivorian striker’s seventh goal of the season and his longest cameo since he started a game against Stoke City in February.

: “Kodj came on and I thought he was brilliant when he came on so a lot of credit to Kodj.

“The same for Mile as well. Mile’s not played for a while but that’s what the team’s about at the moment.

“There’s so much togetherness in there and when people come out of the squad, there are people ready to step in and they’ve done that today.”

Grealish, who scored the winner last night, is spearheading Aston Villa’s promotion push and he knows the importance of squad players.

Jedinak and Kodjia played their part last night to show that Aston Villa could be set for something special this season.
