Jack Clarke not frustrated at Tottenham but admits he needs game time

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Jack Clarke has been commenting on his loan move to Stoke City.

The 20-year-old has played just three times for Jose Mourinho’s men this season, all in cup games where Tottenham had comfortable leads against LASK Linz, Ludogorets and Marine.

Whilst stopping short of claiming he was frustrated at Spurs, the talented winger made it clear he was now hungry for more game time.

“I don’t know if frustration is the right word, but I think as a player you always want to play,”

“If those opportunities don’t come for whatever reason I think there are always opportunities to learn and develop yourself in other ways and not just in the games. Games are just where you can showcase what you actually can do.

“The plan Tottenham had in place was for me to come and get some first-team football, and once I had spoken to Michael and his staff, Stoke is a big club so it was a no-brainer really.”

Tottenham agreed a deal with Leeds United worth a £11.5 million in 2019 and he was immediately loaned back out to the West Yorkshire side.

But despite exciting performances the previous season Clarke found himself at the bottom of Marcelo Bielsa’s priority list when it came to using loan players and left Elland Road for good this time last year, heading to QPR on loan instead.

Now despite Mourinho reportedly being a fan of the player, Clarke has been sent out on loan once again where he will hope to catch the eye and put in some quality performances back in the Championship.

Spurs invested a substantial sum in Clarke’s precocious talent and that will hopefully come to the fore once again as he helps Stoke in a bid for the Championship play-off places.
