Jack Clarke flying since Tottenham exit; six goal involvements already
Tottenham Hotspur supporters’ frustration over the deal to sign Jack Clarke for back in 2019 has probably not been helped by his form since his permanent exit from the club in the summer.
Clarke arrived at Spurs having established himself as one of the most exciting talents in the country. He was electric for Leeds, forcing his way into Marcelo Bielsa’s plans at Elland Road.
And it appeared to be a coup for Tottenham to do a deal three years ago. Clarke however, never got close to realising the frightening potential he had while on the club’s books.
He endured a number of uninspiring loan spells. And by the time he joined Sunderland permanently in July, the winger was only able to boast a handful of appearances for Tottenham’s first-team.
Unsurprisingly, Spurs were not in a position to demand a hefty fee for the 21-year-old. . However, that could eventually rise to £10 million.
It is not clear what clauses will net Spurs the eight-figure amount. But certainly, Clarke is doing his best to ensure that they do get the full amount.

The winger has played nine times in the Championship so far this season. And he already boasts three goals and three assists.
In more than double the number of appearances in League One last year, Clarke managed just four goal involvements. So he is certainly off to a flyer at the higher level.
And came at the end of a stunning team move from the Black Cats in their emphatic win over Reading this week.
Interestingly, it somewhat evoked memories of his first ever senior goal, which sparked an amazing Leeds comeback away at Aston Villa in 2018. On that occasion, he danced in from the left flank before firing into the corner with his right foot.
The chance was created for Clarke against the Royals. But he still managed to cut back and find the bottom corner with a composed finish in a similar manner.
Of course, Tottenham fans will be scratching their heads wondering what happened to Clarke. And some supporters will be frustrated to see him now impressing.
But, on reflection, it did appear to be a move he made at the wrong time in his development. The slight upside for Tottenham is that it is surely much more likely that they will receive a £10 million fee if his current form is a sign of what is to come.
