Jack Clarke delighted with Tottenham debut, praises Jose Mourinho for having faith

Tottenham starlet Jack Clarke finally made his debut last night against LASK and the former Leeds youngster has sung the praises of Jose Mourinho following his cameo.

Clarke signed for Spurs for a fee of £8.5m back in the summer of 2019, but has so far failed to make a splash in north London.

But the teenager was given his chance last night by Jose Mourinho in the final few minutes and even had a chance to add a goal to what would have been a memorable night for Clarke.

And the 19-year-old has lavished the praise on his manager, insisting it is a massive boost to his confidence that Mourinho has backed him.

“Things have definitely been moving fast since pre-season but I just take it day by day, don’t get ahead of myself and just try to do my best every single day,” Clarke told the .

“When you’ve got a manager who has worked with some of the top players in the world, for him to show faith in me, it’s just a massive push for me and it makes me feel like I want to do better and improve every day.”

Clarke will now be hoping to use last night’s debut as a springboard performance for more opportunities in what is a talent-rich squad at Spurs.

The youngster couldn’t be at a better club than in terms of looking to learn from some of the best in the game where he plays. He’s got Bale, Lucas, and Son to look up to, meaning improvement should come.

Last night was a massive boost for the youngster and given his comments, it’s already a sign that he’s fully bought into Mourinho’s principals.
