Jack Clarke and Alfie McCalmont send Instagram messages to player who left Leeds in summer
Clarke Oduor was finally handed his first Championship start for Barnsley on Saturday afternoon as the Tykes produced an excellent display to beat QPR 5-3 in an enthralling match – and two Leeds players have applauded him on Instagram.
Oduor, 20, left Leeds in the summer to join Barnsley in what was a somewhat surprising move after he made his debut for Marcelo Bielsa’s side last term. He was also a crucial part of the Under-23 side, but he chose to move across Yorkshire.
The versatile ace, who can play out wide, in the 10 role or at full-back, started on the left side of defence in what was his first Championship start for Barnsley since joining. He has previously made just one appearance, a late sub against Cardiff.
Conor Chaplin took the plaudits as he scored a hat-trick, while Cauley Woodrow and Bambo Diaby cancelled out Luke Amos’ brace and an injury-time effort from Ilias Chair. Oduor shared his delight on Instagram after a win on his first start.

Oduor was one of a number of youngsters that made their debuts for Leeds under Bielsa in the FA Cup defeat to QPR back in January. The likes of Kun Temenuzhkov and Jordan Stevens also earned their first appearances in that match.
Tottenham Hotspur loanee Clarke sent Oduor a message, as did midfielder McCalmont – both players telling Oduor that they “love to see” their former Under-23 teammate making his debut. Stevens also commented a series of emojis.
