‘I’ve seen him grow’… Pundit says 25-year-old Liverpool player has improved so much this year

There’s been a lot of talk about new stars bursting onto the scene at Liverpool, but Caoimhin Kelleher is quietly having the best period of his career.

Indeed, while the likes of Conor Bradley, Jarell Quansah and Bobby Clark are getting a lot of the headlines, Kelleher has also really stepped up a gear in recent weeks.

Kelleher has had an extended spell as Liverpool’s number one, and he’s shown up in big moments time after time, particularly in the Carabao Cup final.

Speaking on the , Ray Houghton has been discussing Kelleher’s recent improvement, and he says that he has noticed just how much the 25-year-old has grown in confidence and stature as of late.

Caoimhin Kelleher has improved so much

Houghton spoke about the goalkeeper.

“He’s grown, he’s really grown as an individual and as a goalkeeper. When Alisson is not missing games you’re just training and there’s nothing at the end of it. He’s had to bide his time and take his chance, he’s done that. The last few weeks I’ve seen him grow in stature now and he really looks like a number one not like before where he would just come on in cup games and when Alisson is injured, I think people look at him in a different light now,” Houghton said.

Been brilliant

Houghton is spot on, Kelleher has grown a lot during this period.

The goalkeeper has been brilliant during this spell between the sticks, and, to be honest, there’s a case to make for the Irishman starting ahead of Alisson once he returns.

Of course, that’s unlikely to happen, but the fact that such a conversation is even viable is a testament to how well the goalkeeper has performed in recent weeks.

Kelleher has been one of Liverpool’s most important players lately, there’s no doubt about that.
