What Andre Onana was doing during Manchester United v Man City that was a clear message from Ruben Amorim

Manchester United rose from the dead late on against Man City to seal a memorable win and it’s clear that Ruben Amorim’s messages are getting through.

Amad Diallo was the hero for United as he won the penalty and then scored the winner in the space of a few minutes to send the United fans wild in the away end.

For Diallo, it was another big moment in what’s becoming a fine season for him.

He is clearly benefitting from the work with Amorim so far but it also appears that the rest of the United squad is taking things onboard as well.

And according to one pundit, there was something really obvious about Andre Onana as well.

What Andre Onana was spotted doing over and over again against Man City

Speaking about Onana’s performance at The Etihad, Jim Beglin pointed out a notable change in the goalkeeper’s performance.

“I’ve noticed today that Onana, every time the ball has come to his feet, he’s taken a touch and then played it as if there’s no messing about, no chance of inviting someone to close him down quicker,” Beglin said.

Ruben Amorim may have got his Man United turning point

So far for Ruben Amorim, it’s not been the best start to life as manager. There have been flashes of what he wants to see but in the main, inconsistencies have remained.

However, it’s clear that he is getting through to the players and what Onana was doing with the ball was clearly something coming from the coach.

While it’s just a small detail, it’s a good sign for Amorim to see his players taking things onboard and this result as a whole could well be his Mark Robins and Alex Ferguson moment.

Amorim will now be desperate to build on the good feeling and winning the next game is absolutely crucial.
