‘It’s quite obvious’… Manager suggests his £80m player will leave after he’s linked with Arsenal move

Despite all that is left to achieve for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal this season, transfer talk is already hotting up ahead of the summer.

Arteta’s side were incredibly quiet in January, encouraging the idea of a big summer spend.

And whilst that theory will excite Arsenal fans, it will also prove to be an alert to the clubs of players Arteta is said to want to buy.

Perhaps Edu Gaspar will attempt to bring a new goal-scoring striker to the Emirates this summer, as well as a midfield replacement for Thomas Partey.

Moreover, a centre-back capable of substituting for William Saliba also looks an incredibly important piece to add – and one the club will hope they don’t need before this season concludes.

Perhaps Arsenal’s ideal window could look something like Ivan Toney, Martin Zubimendi and Ousmane Diomande – all players rumoured to be of interest.

That would be a big spend, but one that shouldn’t be beyond Arsenal, especially if players could leave.

All that being said, Brentford manager Thomas Frank has now admitted that Ivan Toney will be leaving the side this summer.

Ivan Toney will leave Brentford this summer with Arsenal very keen on transfer

Arsenal have long been linked with Toney, a deal that could end up suiting all parties once the season finishes.

And when speaking to Danish outlet , Frank admitted that Toney will be on the move.

Frank did, however, talk up the striker’s price tag despite his expiring contract.

He said: “It’s quite obvious that Ivan Toney will most likely be sold in the summer.

“It can be expensive to sell your best player, but on the other hand, I also know that by summer, he’ll only have a year left on his contract with us.

“We also know what he’s worth. I don’t think there are many strikers in the world who are better than him right now.”

So whilst Arsenal might be keen to swiftly sort the transfer in the summer, it may not be quite as easy as expected.

Although, Brentford were very reasonable with their negotiations regarding David Raya, who should soon join Arsenal permanently.

But transfer talk aside, and focusing on the football remaining this season, Jamie Carragher has now decided who he wants Arsenal to draw in the next round of the Champions League.
