‘It’s not that easy’: Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink sticks up for Spurs player Mourinho has criticised
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has defended Tottenham Hotspur striker Carlos Vinicius following his struggles in Thursday night’s Premier League defeat to Chelsea.
Jose Mourinho’s charges have now lost their last three league games in a row, with Liverpool, Brighton and now the Blues all taking three points off the North Londoners in the space of a week.
With Harry Kane sidelined, Mourinho opted to start Vinicius up front alongside Son Heung-min, but the Brazilian failed to impress in a performance where he had just 21 touches in total.

Although Vinicius had little support, he ought to have salvaged an undeserved point in the closing stages, but he nodded off target.
There was also one moment in the first half where Vinicius got himself in an area Kane would have been in, but he failed to play Son in on the counter.
As if that wasn’t enough, Mourinho went on to criticise the striker after the game, saying he failed to press properly and lacks “understanding” in this area of his game.
“You can’t blame the kid – give him five matches then say he’s good enough or not,” Hasselbaink told after the game.
“This is his first match against Chelsea, who are not giving much away. It is not that easy.
“Harry Kane would have a difficult match today; he would do better, but it was the boy’s first match.”
TBR View:
Vinicius joined Spurs on loan as a Kane back-up but he has mostly played in the cup competitions, getting just 25 minutes of game time in the league prior to the last two games.
Now he’s been thrown into the action in the league, he doesn’t quite look fully up to scratch, and really, that’s on Mourinho for not having given him more time to get used to the competition.
