‘It’s bonkers’… Journalist says £17m player has been offered to Arsenal, but they aren’t sure

Joao Palhinha is undoubtedly one of the best players outside of the top six in the Premier League.

The Fulham midfielder, with all due respect, is way too good to be playing for the Whites for much longer, and a big move surely beckons.

The Portugal international almost joined Bayern Munich in the summer, but after the Bavarians failed to close that deal, the door could be open for a move to another Premier League club in January.

Speaking on the , Alex Crook has shared what he knows about Palhinha, and he says that he’s been offered to both Arsenal and Liverpool, but both teams are concerned about signing him because of his age.

Palhinha was offered to Arsenal

Crook shared what he knows about the man.

“I still think it’s bonkers that because of his age the big clubs in the Premier League don’t seem to be interested. We ran the story that he was offered to Chelsea and they thought he was too old and we also believe he’s been offered to Arsenal and Liverpool, but they have their reservations as well. I think he’ll probably end up at Bayern, probably in January,” Crook said.

Seriously?

Are we missing something here?

Joao Palhinha is 28 years old. He’s not exactly ancient is he?

Of course, younger players have a longer shelf-life and greater sell-on potential, but sometimes it’s worth just buying quality.

Palhinha would make both Liverpool and Arsenal better teams, but because he’s in his prime, they don’t want to sign him?

Yes, signing young players can be a great strategy, but it can also backfire massively – just ask Chelsea how their young recruits over the past 18 months are getting on.

Not signing Palhinha because of his age may doesn’t make a lick of sense for us. He’s a quality player and will be for years to come.
