‘It’s been a difficult job’: Tony Cascarino has said how much longer he thinks Aston Villa should give Gerrard
Aston Villa should give Steven Gerrard more time to improve the team this season, according to Tony Cascarino.
Aston Villa find themselves looking over their shoulder, and are only two points above the relegation zone.
There has been speculation about Gerrard’s future at Villa Park in recent weeks.
Paul Merson admitted he thought Gerrard had enough credit in the bank before their win against Southampton.

Villa haven’t lost since then, but their fans would have been expecting more after drawing against Leeds and Nottingham Forest.
Gerrard’s side have struggled in front of goal, and Roy Keane believes he’d have been fuming after their performance at Elland Road.
Cascarino has said that injuries have made Gerrard’s job much more difficult, and he should be given more time.
Cascarino: ‘Gerrard should be given more time’
Speaking on TalkSPORT, Cascarino was asked if Gerrard was under serious pressure at Villa Park.
“I hope not, I hear all of the noise going around,”
“I really believe that he should be given more time, because I do think it’s been a difficult job.
“He’s had a number of injuries to expensive players that he’s bought.
“It’s just another tough game for them, they’re going to have to get something out of it.
“I would like to give him one window, get a few of his players back, and then judge Steven Gerrard at the end of the season.

“If you get into relegation trouble, director and owners think you’re going to go down, then they’ll sack you.
“I just hope that can be avoided for Villa and Steven Gerrard.”
Today’s match against Chelsea will be tough, but Villa will be looking back to their performance against Manchester City last month for inspiration.
Gerrard’s men held Pep Guardiola’s side to a 1-1 draw, earning an impressive point against one of the best sides in the world.
Cascarino believes Gerrard should be given more time, and could propel his side into the top half with a win today.
