‘It’s amazing’… Journalist shares what Ange Postecoglou has been telling Richarlison in private
Richarlison has been in incredible form as of late.
The Brazilian has been utterly amazing in recent weeks. He’s scored almost every time he’s stepped on the pitch recently, and we’ve been blown away by his recent showings for Tottenham.
The attacker has completely transformed as a player in recent weeks, and many of us are wondering how he’s done it.
Speaking on , Charlie Eccleshare has given some insight into how Richarlison has been managed behind the scenes at Spurs, and he says that one key message from Ange Postecoglou in recent weeks is that the goals don’t matter and that he should judge himself on a more all-round performance basis.

Ange Postecoglou has told Richarlison goals don’t matter
Eccleshare shared what he knows about the striker.
“What Postecoglou did was that he made it clear that he shouldn’t just judge himself on goals, he’s about a lot more than that, the goals will come, don’t worry about it. That has absolutely been Postecoglou’s message, in public to us and I believe in private to Richarlison as well, it’s not just about the goals, it’s amazing,” Eccleshare said.
Ironic
Isn’t it strange how these things work sometimes?
Richarlison has been told that he doesn’t need to focus on goals, and just as he’s been told that goals don’t matter that much, he can’t stop scoring.
It’s almost a reverse psychology effect. When the pressure is removed, players can play with more freedom and confidence, and, in turn, that leads to better and more effective performances.
For a manager to tell his starting striker to not think too much about goals sounds counter-productive, but, somehow, this has proved to be an absolute masterstroke by Postecoglou as he’s managed to find how to get the best out of Richarlison.
Fingers crossed this run of form can continue.
