Italian transfer expert casts doubt over Everton interest in Hirving Lozano

Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio has been discussing Everton’s reported interest in Napoli forward Hirving Lozano.

The attacker has recently been linked with a move to Goodison Park, suggesting in February he was an option for the summer. Recent reports have also linked him with West Ham, a €30 million (£26m) transfer might be in the works.

A move certainly made sense. Lozano had played under current Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli whilst Marcel Brands was sporting director at PSV Eindhoven when the Dutch side snapped him up.

Di Marzio highlighted Everton’s reported interest in the frontman. He seemed to suggest that, despite the apparent links, Everton are unlikely to make a move for the player as Lozano is not suited to the Premier League.

“Speaking of the Mexican, I really don’t think Ancelotti wants him at Everton. In England you have to be very good at knowing how to play without the ball and in Lozano instead, he really likes to start ball and dribble.

“If Carlo really wants to fish in Naples, he could be more interested in someone like Allan.”

Everton fans are likely to have mixed feelings on this matter.

Some would feel that Lozano is the perfect addition for the club. Everton are clearly lacking in the wide areas whilst Lozano has a good working relationship with Ancelotti and Brands.

However, he has struggled to show his best form in Italian football and it could be that Lozano is not the major talent many thought he was when giving teams in the Eredivisie the runaround.

Maybe Everton moving on might actually be for the best.
