‘It was massive’: Ruben Neves was over the moon with 29-year-old Wolves man after win vs Nottingham Forest
Wolverhampton Wanderers recorded an important victory over fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest yesterday.
The other key incident in the game was a penalty at the other end.
However, goalkeeper Jose Sa made a fantastic stop to his left to deny Brennan Johnson.
Neves spoke after the game about how impressed he was with Sa, not only during yesterday’s match, but since he’s arrived at Wolves.
The Portuguese international arrived from Olympiacos last summer, and made himself first choice between the sticks.
He was one of the standout goalkeepers in the Premier League last season, earning Wolves plenty of points.

He’s not been as effective for Wolves this season, but Sa certainly impressed Neves and the fans at Molineux with his clean sheet yesterday.
Neves impressed with penalty-saving Sa
“It was massive. We conceded a penalty from a set play.
“We were a bit struggling after our goal, because we wanted to keep the ball, it’s been hard for us to get points.
“Maybe we were a bit nervous after our goal, but Sa is a very good goalkeeper, he showed it last season, he’s showing it again, and saving a penalty is really important for us.”
: “Obviously disappointed we gave them an opportunity to get the equaliser late on, but a fantastic save from Sa.
“We know he’s a good shot stopper, so because of that he always gives you a chance in those situations.
“It was a great save, he went early and guessed right, so a fantastic save.
“That was the difference. Ruben struck it really well into the bottom corner and Jose made a fantastic save. We needed that today.”
Wolves next manager still not decided
Wolves will be heading into their next match away to Crystal Palace in a more confident mood.
Davis is likely to still be in charge in midweek, but speculation about Wolves’ next permanent manager is increasing.
Former manager Nuno Espirito Santo has been linked with a return to Molineux.
It could also be former defender and recently sacked Watford boss Rob Edwards that takes the hot seat.
The Wolves job will be a much more attractive prospect if the players can keep picking up wins and move away from the relegation zone.
The impressive Sa will be hoping he’s not called on again to save a penalty any time soon.
