Arsenal legend Bob Wilson has revealed what Aaron Ramsdale did right after he completed his move from Sheffield United to the Emirates.

The 23-year-old was an unpopular choice among Gunners fans in the summer. Almost every supporter and pundit urged Mikel Arteta to snub Ramsdale, but the Arsenal boss ignored everyone and brought him in.

Ramsdale has been absolutely incredible for Arsenal this season. He has arguably been their best player and a bit of help from a Gunners legend who won three league titles back in the day could be one of the reasons why.

Wilson has revealed that Ramsdale reached out to Gunners icon David Seaman right after he joined the club.

Bob Wilson: Aaron Ramsdale contacted David Seaman after joining Arsenal

Wilson, who played over 230 games for Arsenal and later spent close to three decades at the club as the goalkeeping coach, delivered his verdict on Ramsdale in an interview with .

He said: “I must admit, when we signed Ramsdale – player of the season for Bournemouth but relegated, then player of the season for Sheffield United but relegated – I did wonder if bad things still came in threes. But he has been a terrific influence on the team.

“The day he signed for Arsenal, he asked to see David Seaman as quickly as possible because he wanted to understand what it means to play for the club.

“I thought it was brilliant that he had the foresight, and respect, to seek out somebody who won 75 England caps, three titles and two Doubles.”

Seaman, one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation, has been visiting Arsenal a lot recently. Plenty of pictures of the Gunners legend speaking to Ramsdale have been released by the club, and we now know why.

The legendary Gunners goalkeeper surely wouldn’t have recommended playing out from the back, but learning from him may well be the reason why Ramsdale has been so good for the Gunners this season.

Arsenal fans, who were completely against Ramsdale, have been proved wrong, and they absolutely adore him now.
